Acosta's 2019-2020 season continues with highly anticipated debuts, including Madison Opera and Houston Grand Opera, as well as his European debut with the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. He returns to Minnesota Opera to sing Don Ottavio, reprising the role later in the season at The Glimmerglass Festival.

Franz Liszt named Viardot a “Genius woman composer” before she even wrote this French opera in miniature. This Cinderella is "a retelling of the Cinderella story with Gallic wit, Italianate bel canto, and a quirkiness all her own.” A godmother becomes a bumbling stepfather, and the fairy godmother appears as a guest who entertains the guests with the song. Mr. Acosta appears as Prince Charmant in his house debut with Florentine Opera.

Fellow Travelers is set in the landscape of the Lavender Scare and tells the story of Timothy Laughlin, an aspiring young journalist, and Hawkins Fuller, a handsome State Department official. A chance encounter with Fuller leads to Tim’s first job in DC, and his first love affair. As his involvement deepens, Tim struggles to reconcile his political convictions, his religious beliefs, and his love for Fuller—an entanglement that ends in a stunning act of betrayal. Mr. Acosta makes his house debut with Florida Grand Opera while reprising the role of Timothy Laughlin.
